2024 YoungArts Winner Kian 辰雄 (Tatsuo) Linam is a 17-year-old pianist from Northern Virginia, rooted in jazz traditions. Kian began playing piano at the age of 6, growing up with the music of New Orleans, and has been performing around the DC Metropolitan area since the start of high school.

Kian, alongside Jose Andre, has been a pianist for the Blues Alley Youth Orchestra led by Michael Bowie since 2020 and is under the mentorship of Eric Byrd & Dan Nimmer of the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra.

Kian has worked with and played alongside Ashlin Parker, Michael Bowie, Romeir Mendez, Alphonso Young Jr., Julian Berkowitz, and many more. Having performed at Blues Alley, The Mid-Atlantic Jazz Fest, The Hamilton, The Carlyle Room, Mr Henry’s, etc.
